Today, metal cupboard has become an essential and is commonly seen or used in Singapore’s offices and schools for storage purposes. But, do you have any idea how the metal cupboard had evolved over the years or decades since it was first introduced into Singapore?
Metal cupboard had a long and rich history in the market. In the 1960s to 1980s, metal cupboards were widely used by local offices for document storage. During the heights of the manufacturing sector, there were a few factories in Singapore manufacturing metal cupboards, metal filing cabinets, metal lockers and metal tables.
As, overseas markets opened up, and in order to stay competitive in price, many local distributors/ wholesalers turned to importing these steel office furniture from neighbouring countries, e.g. Malaysia, Vietnam and Thailand as labour costs and production costs were lower.
For many decades since the metal cupboard was first introduced, they were available in limited colours like light grey, dark grey and sometimes beige. BEATRON striven to make a difference in the common market, we introduced new colours, 2-tone beige and Malaysia-brown beige to meet local demands.
With the market mainly selling smooth/ glossy finish, which surface tends to be scratched easily, BEATRON decided to adopt the new painting method, epoxy-powdered sand coated. The cold-rolled steel was sprayed with epoxy powdered and oven baked to achieve a sand-textured matt finishes which give the surface a scratch resistant.
Today, with our decades of experience and strong understanding of our market, we continue to edge in being one of the leading wholesaler of office furniture in Singapore by adding new features to our products.
